eID for advisors –  what’s my role in sheep eID? with Nathan Scott

The introduction of electronic ID within the sheep industry brings with it some unnecessary trepidation, equally some unnecessary hype, and ultimately some great benefits for industry.  This session will focus on why it is important for industry, and how to make the most of the technology on farm.  As an advisor, where do you fit within the mix, and how can you add value? We will look at the how, the what and most importantly, the why of eID for Sheep.

The carbon space is big, evolving and full of contradictions. So how does an advisor steer their clients along a path that avoids being caught in the carbon hype but ensures they don’t miss the merging opportunities? This Masterclass will explore the key forces operating in carbon farming so you can help your clients be in the best possible position for the future.

The title “Advisor” suggests that our main role is simply advice, but most often it is actually to challenge and motivate our clients and industry to strive for more.  To be the best they can possibly be. In this session we will explore how motivation works, how we can all be better, and what we might be able to do to avoid hitting our own flat spot.

Jeanette Long -

Ag Consulting Co

Jeanette Long has been facilitating leadership training for over 20 years. She is passionate about developing the skills of people in regional and rural areas. 

Jeanette's passion is engaging people and influencing positive change in agriculture and natural resources management. She specialises in facilitation and facilitated learning both with farmers and for professionals who work with farmers. 

Jeanette farms with her husband Bill and son Will at Undalya in the Clare Valley as well as on the Eyre Peninsula at Tooligie Hill and Cummins. 

Cam Nicholson -

Nicon Rural Services

Cam Nicholson is a partner in Nicon Rural Services, a consulting business near Geelong working with the grazing and cropping industries. Cam has been involved in many farmer programs for the GRDC, MLA, Landcare and the current Future Drought Fund initiative.  He provides consultancy advice to farmers and lectures on animal and pasture systems at Marcus Oldham College. For the past decade Cam has been advising farmers on carbon farming. 

Cam and his wife Fiona also run a 400 ha beef and sheep farm on the Bellarine Peninsula turning off cattle for the long fed feedlot market and fine wool. 

Colleen White - C White Counselling

Colleen works for PIRSA as a FaB Mentor. FaB Mentors come from a variety of business and agricultural backgrounds and have experience in dealing with assisting Primary Producers get through difficult situations. FaB Mentors offer a wide range of expertise and link producers to navigate the help they require. 

Colleen is a Clinical Counsellor and Family Therapist and has worked in various rural settings around SA for the past 19yrs.  

She also has worked for Dairy SA and Pork SA. Colleen has trained many in the Agri Industry who work closely with Producers through a program called the “Accidental Counsellor.” Colleen offers practical training for the tricky situations that may arrive during conversation with Producers.  

Nathan Scott - Achieve Ag Solutions

Nathan has a background in prime lamb, merino wool and beef production, and a passion for improving the productivity and profitability of livestock enterprises. He works with producers to increase conception rates, improve lamb survival, lift growth rates, and hone overall management. 

Nathan provides advice to individual clients, works with a number of producer groups, is a keynote speaker, guest lecturer and is involved within various industry projects. He is based in Inverleigh, Victoria.
